Increasing the amount of electricity produced from a given energy input
Sandia National Laboratories has advanced research in solar, wind, and geothermal energy science and technologies since the 1970s. More recently, climate-change concerns, coupled with high oil prices and increasing government support, are driving increasing renewable-energy legislation, incentives, and the commercialization of renewable technologies. In response, Sandia has added research programs in biofuels and biomass to our renewable-energy research portfolio. Sandia employs its research and engineering expertise and unique capabilities in high-performance computing to build strategic partnerships with key industry players in critical renewable-energy technology areas.
