Commercial Nuclear Power Generation

One of Sandia’s goals is to develop, demonstrate and deploy solutions for a secure, safe, and resilient energy future. The commercial nuclear power generation component of the nuclear energy fuel cycle contributes to this goal by supporting:

• The sustainability of the current operating nuclear power plants by assessing and implementing technical solutions that can lead to more efficient and less costly operations.
• The advancement and deployment of advanced nuclear reactors for both commercial and defense activities, including integrated safety, security and safeguards as well as advanced energy conversion.
