Biography

Steven DiGregorio is a postdoctoral researcher in the Photovoltaic Systems Evaluation Laboratory (PSEL) at Sandia National Laboratories. His current research focuses on the characterization and statistical analysis of PV connector failures and the quantification of cell and glass cracking due to hail impacts on PV modules. Prior to his current role, Dr. DiGregorio developed interdisciplinary expertise in material science, chemistry, and mechanical and electrical engineering through his research on particle-free reactive silver inks. This research led to a 90% reduction in silver consumption in silicon heterojunction (SHJ) solar cells and the development of a reliable microfluidic printing process for photovoltaic metallization with reactive silver inks.

Education

Dr. DiGregorio received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and both his master’s and PhD degrees in mechanical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
