Biography
Rick is a research hydrogeologist with research interests at the intersection of geologic fluid systems and energy resources, including radioactive waste disposal (especially in salt), CO2 sequestration, geothermal energy resources, basin-scale fluid systems and groundwater availability in arid regions. To better understand these geologic fluid systems, Rick utilizes lab and field experimental data to constrain and inform numerical models. This field-based numerical modeling approach combines principles from non-isothermal multi-phase/multi-component fluid flows, reservoir geomechanics, stochastic reservoir characterization, and high-performance computing.
