Professional development series delves into common energy storage practices across states and applications

State energy regulators and utility commissioners can learn more about energy storage, accommodating data centers, and large loads at an upcoming NARUC-hosted professional development series. Sandia’s Will McNamara, a technical systems analyst with a 30-year career in the energy and utilities industry, is one of the instructors. Course information derives in part from energy storage research at Sandia, supported by the Department of Energy’s Office of Electricity energy storage program, and collaboration with the Energy Policy Design Institute, state officials, utilities, universities, technology developers, and other national laboratories.

Among other topics, the course will share the basics of energy storage technologies, including long-duration energy storage (LDES) and how these technologies integrate and serve the electric grid.

The course is provided through the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners. To register, visit the NARUC website.
