Sandia National Laboratories, CFV Labs and GroundWork Renewables are soliciting technical presentation proposals from the photovoltaic community for the 2025 PVPMC Workshop to be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, May 13-15, 2025. The workshop’s Call for Abstracts seeks submissions from stakeholders on topics such as modeling approaches, new data and other noteworthy results of interest to participants.

“We are currently soliciting technical presentation proposals from the community,” said Sandia researcher and PVPMC lead Josh Stein. “Submit a short abstract describing what you would like to present at the workshop. Final sessions will depend on the topics submitted.”

Stein said potential workshop topics include but are not limited to:

• Solar resource assessment

• Module characterization methods

• PV performance modeling (including bifacial)

• PV tracking methods and modeling

• Application of PV performance models to grid integration studies

Power plant underperformance Digitalization of PV systems and asset portfolios

• Applications of machine learning or artificial intelligence in a PV project’s pre-construction and operations phases

Abstracts are due Feb. 1, 2025.

Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program may be eligible for free workshop registration and a travel grant to offset travel and lodging costs. To be considered, students must submit a technical abstract for a presentation as well as a research statement that includes:

  1. Name and contact information of student
  2. School name
  3. Name and contact information of academic advisor or department administrator
  4. Expected degree and graduation date
  5. Brief statement describing research interests and experience

The PV Performance and Modeling Collaborative’s three-day workshop examines the technical aspects of PV module and system performance, including performance modeling, monitoring and operations and management analytics.
