Biography

Michael Rios is a Senior Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories. He completed his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering in 2011 at the University of San Diego where he was a Ronald E McNair Scholar. He completed his masters and doctorate degrees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Wisconsin Electric Machines and Power Electronics Consortium (WEMPEC) in 2014 and 2018, respectively. Prior to joining Sandia he spent nearly five years as an electric motor calibration engineer with General Motors developing their third generation platform for electric vehicles. His research interests include traction motor drives, WBG devices for high power conversion, and utility scale power electronics for grid modernization and energy storage.
