Timothy (Tim) Riley began his professional journey as a helicopter crew chief in the U.S. Air Force, and has been passionate about operations and safety ever since. Coming to Sandia as the lead for ES&H/Security & Safeguards internal auditing before joining the SWiFT team, Tim held positions as an EHS Manager in new wind projects with Siemens Wind Energy, as the Operations Chief for Space Shuttle Integration at the Kennedy Space Center, and as an orbiter technician and member of the Space Shuttle Launch and Landing Team.
In his role as the SWiFT Program Lead, Tim brings integration and project management skills to bear for the safe and efficient operation of the SWiFT Facility, and in ensuring the readiness and capacity to support world-class wind energy research moving into the future. Currently a PhD candidate in Aviation Safety & Human Factors at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Tim holds a BS degree in environmental management from Rollins College, a MS degree in environmental management from Webster University, and an MBA from the Florida Institute of Technology. Tim is also a Certified Safety Professional, a Certified Environmental Professional, and a Project Management Professional.
