His comprehensive professional history includes roles as a design engineer, construction engineer, and research staff member. In 2023, Dr. Jones took a year-long entrepreneurial leave, assuming the role of Director of Customer Solutions for a Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) company. As a researcher at Sandia National Laboratories, Dr. Jones focuses on investigating the integration, control, and fault detection and diagnostics of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs).
