Yalla joined Sandia in 2023 as a member of the Wind Energy Computational Science Department. Prior to joining Sandia, Gopal earned his PhD in Computational Science, Engineering, and Mathematics with a concentration in Teaching and Mentoring from the Oden Institute at The University of Texas at Austin. He also served as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.Gopal enjoys working on new problems that lie at the intersection of engineering, applied mathematics, and computer science, and his research interests broadly include turbulence and turbulence modeling, numerical methods and High Performance Computing (HPC), data assimilation and state estimation, and flow control.
