Biography

Dr. Brian Naughton is a Principal Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories, where he has worked since 2013 on wind energy technologies ranging from polymer composite materials, and developing new laser-based flow diagnostics, to field experiments at the Sandia Scaled Wind Farm Technology (SWiFT) facility to assess wind plant and microgrid control concepts. Prior to joining Sandia, Dr. Naughton worked in a variety of energy related areas including a solar energy start-up, magnetic nanomaterials for high-efficiency power electronics, and technical due diligence for an investor on supercapacitors for energy storage. Dr. Naughton received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and his PhD in Materials from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
