Biography

Kathryn A. Small is a Mechanical Engineer in the Concentrating Solar Technologies group. Her work focuses on advanced materials and fabrication processes for solar thermochemical reactors, heat exchanger and energy storage in CSP. She also works on characterization of materials using in-situ electron microscopy to observe degradation of energy materials in extreme environments and microstructural evolution during additive manufacturing. Kathryn also has experience in statistical analysis, biomedical research and spent time as an engineer for an orthopedic implant company.
