After a four-year hiatus, the Sandia Blade Workshop returned to Albuquerque in October. The workshop is a key venue for wind energy stakeholders, bringing together wind industry experts, wind farm owners and operators, manufacturers, and researchers from across the world.

The 2022 conference, Oct. 17–20, drew record-breaking attendance with more than 190 participants and 43 presenters and panelists, including Sarah Cottrell Propst, Cabinet Secretary of the New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department.

“I’m really impressed with the expertise and quality of presentations and panel discussions at this year’s workshop to discuss wind turbine blades. There was a genuine enthusiasm to be meeting in-person again,” said Chris Kelley, general chair for this year’s workshop. “Over sixty percent of the attendees and presenters were from the wind industry, which leads to a different perspective than the other academic conferences we attend.”
