His work at the Photovoltaic Systems Evaluation Laboratory (PSEL) leverages Unix based systems, automating data handling starting from the acquisition stage through collection and analysis. He develops analysis tools to raise situational awareness of data that enables technicians to know when data acquisition needs to be addressed and gives confidence to analysts that the data is of the highest possible quality. As an analyst, he builds software analysis tools around open-source models to facilitate learning in photovoltaic and energy systems. He started his career in photovoltaics at Advent Solar, processing and testing cells for both their R&D and production teams. Next, he was the Lead Engineer at Rio Grande Solar, designing and developing commercial scale PV systems in the US and Latin America, most notably for a Mexican presidential library. He later combined his testing and development experience to manage the outdoor test facility at Fraunhofer USA’s Center for Sustainable Energy for eight years and participated in numerous industry-based customer projects as well as large scale DOE projects. Mr. Stark received his BS in Electrical Engineering focusing on Microelectronics, and his MS in Electrical Engineering focusing on Photovoltaics and Optoelectronics from the University of New Mexico.
