The event held April 19 and 20, 2021, included participants from national laboratories, independent testing and research organizations, battery manufacturers, electric utilities and first responders. Presenting organizations included multiple national laboratories; Underwriters Laboratories; the Electric Power Research Institute; Saft; Portland General Electric; the Bergen, Norway Fire Department; the National Transportation Safety Board; and many more. The technical program was well attended with approximately 500 participants throughout the two-day event. Detailed energy storage safety and reliability topics included new advances, testing, R&D, codes and standards. “This forum is really exciting because it presents an annual avenue to engage researchers, testing organizations, and stakeholders in large scale energy storage for a valuable exchange of information” said event organizer Josh Lamb, Battery Safety Lead for Sandia’s Energy Storage Safety and Reliability program. Speaker-approved presentation materials are now available on the event website.
