New CREW Database Receives First Set of Data November 13, 2015 12:46 am Published by Admin The CREW public benchmark represents analysis of US wind fleet performance based on aggregated fleet reliability data. Sandia’s Continuous Reliability Enhancement for Wind (CREW) project has received its first large set of data, which reassessed its data-collection efforts to target wind-farm owner/operators that have in-house reliability data collection tools. After a lengthy negotiation process, a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) was signed and executed with a CREW data provider. NDAs are essential for this type of data exchange to protect the owner of the data from any unwanted release of proprietary or otherwise sensitive data. Sandia is currently in the NDA negotiation process with other large wind-farm owner/operators as part of this effort. The CREW project, funded by the US Department of Energy’s Wind and Water Power Technologies Office, was initiated to facilitate collecting, analyzing, and disseminating reliability/performance data essential for determining wind-turbine fleet reliability issues.
