Biography

Kris has been in the Repository Investigations Department at Sandia since finishing graduate school in 2008. He has been the lead hydrologist for the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Waste  Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) near Carlsbad. He has performed both physics and statistical modeling of the continually growing database of hydrologic signals observed at WIPP. He has designed,  directed, and interpreted hydrologic tests for the WIPP project during his time has principal investigator. He has developed an online database of historic Thermal – Hydrologic – Mechanical  (THM) tests conducted internationally in salt for the DOE Office of Fuel Cycle Technologies in the Used Fuel Disposition Campaign. Kris’ technical interests lie in analytical and numerical model  development for coupled hydrogeophysical problems, centered on brine and groundwater flow through both fractured and porous media.
