R&D S&E, Electrical Engineering

Jorge A. Leon-Quiroga, PhD, is a senior member of the technical staff in the Renewable and Distributed Systems Integration (RDSI) group at Sandia National Laboratories. His research is focused on numerical modeling and power grid integration of renewable energy systems, especially for marine renewable energy. He started as a postdoctoral researcher at Sandia National Laboratories in 2020 after completing his PhD. Since then, he has worked on different research projects involving numerical modeling and hardware-in-the-loop testing. Dr. Leon-Quiroga has extensive experience working on dynamic systems modeling, powertrain simulations, and developing software to simulate marine energy applications. Leon-Quiroga has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of the Andes (Bogota, Colombia), and received his PhD in Engineering Technology from Purdue University in 2020.
