Sandia held its mid-year FY12 Annual Operating Plan (AOP) review for representatives from DOE HQ’s EERE Concentrating Solar Power Program, May 10-11, 2012 at Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, NM. The review covered seven agreement areas: Optical Materials and Tools, System Analysis, Trough Performance Testing, Dish R&D, Power Tower R&D, Facilities and R&D Management, and Thermal Storage R&D, which embodies 23 technical tasks. In addition, two Go/No Go reviews were held on Dish R&D Thermal Storage Feasibility and High Temperature Flow 25% Design Review. A short tour was given to the DOE representatives of the re-mirrored heliostat field, the newly constructed Molten Salt Test Loop (MSTL), and upgraded trough rotating platform, which were funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Sandia management and staff greatly appreciated the time DOE spent to hold the review in person and the thoughtful feedback they provided. DOE was very excited about the potential of the work moving forward at Sandia. For questions, please contact Jim Pacheco, firstname.lastname@example.org, 505-844-9501.
