On the contrary.

It is a well-established and responsible approach that has been used in industry and government for over 25 years. Within certain constraints, it can prove viable to smaller organizations as well.

The approach does result in a set of financial and legal (ownership) relationships that are a bit different than the typical purchase of energy from the electric or natural gas utility.
