System Integration Safety Analysis

Safety is a key aspect in systems engineering and integration. As part of commissioning a system on-site, Sandia engineers will perform a safety analysis. This includes a Non-NRTL inspection, hazard analysis, safety system analysis/test (as applicable), and thermal scanning during operation. Additional safety tests and hazard analyses are performed as needed or requested. Below is a presentation that explains one of the methods that can be used for hazard analysis.

Stationary Battery Safety Testing

The ESTP and ESAL are close partners with the Battery Abuse Testing Laboratory (BAT-Lab). Cells, modules, and systems tested at these labs can, and often do, undergo concurrent safety testing at the BAT-Lab. Results from this testing can be used to inform models for grid scale system safety.
