Energy and Climate

Hosted by Sandia National Laboratories and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI)

The 2013 PV Operations and Maintenance Workshop, hosted by Sandia National Laboratories and EPRI, included a full day of interactive presentations, brainstorming, and dialog to both explore current knowledge gaps and lay the groundwork for industry standards and protocols. The fully subscribed event—attended by O&M providers, system integrators, independent power providers, independent engineers, utilities, and laboratory and university representatives—examined the tools, techniques, and data analysis approaches that can enable operational improvements and high levels of reliability.

Topics of discussion surrounded the identification of key PV O&M challenges, as well as their potential operational and cost impacts; planning required for characterizing reliability through data and metrics; and predictive methods for reducing O&M risk. Information was conveyed through case studies, panel debate, and breakout session ideation.

Please feel free to access the workshop’s agenda and associated proceedings via this web page. Over the next several years, Sandia and EPRI will be jointly spearheading the development of PV O&M standards. We encourage your participation! If you are interested in joining one of our Working Groups, contact: Roger Hill, rrhill@sandia.gov.   Meantime, we encourage continued interaction on this important subject matter area and look forward to potentially convening similar workshops in the future.
